Daily Dish: Pseudo-reality Worlds Collide When Kate Gosselin Meets Housewives
Kate out-divas the New York Housewives at charity event

The Stars Strips & Skates charity event to benefit the Heritage Foundation of 9/11 in Danbury, Conn. on Saturday became a swirling vortex of faux-celebrity faux-pas when Kate Gosselin of Jon and Kate Plus 8 out-diva-ed the boisterous Jill Zarin and Luann DeLesseps of the Real Housewives of New York City.
TLC was hesitant to let Gosselin attend, since Bravo’s reality show was also filming at the event. The event’s producer Tara Modlin sounded shocked as she recounted Gosselin’s antics to E!:
“[Gosselin] wasn’t allowed to be a certain distance from the Bravo cameras because her TLC people almost didn’t let her come to the event … I had to remind them that it was about the kids and not about reality TV.”
Professional self-promoter and networker Zarin tried to introduce herself to Gosselin off-camera, but Gosselin’s bodyguard got in the middle and kept Zarin away.
Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky was also a featured celebrity at the event, but was nearly prevented from doing her duties by Gosselin’s bodyguard, who tried to keep her from the stage while trying to “protect” Gosselin.
The mother of eight also required a private car service to shuttle her to the event, then requested a private side entrance.
We’re surprised the earth didn’t veer off its course at the magnitude of the alternate-reality insanity. (E!)
